Glossary

Throughout the Left Wing Lock website, App, and other published materials, our team will use terms and abbreviations unique to the hockey analytics community. As such, we have set aside this page to define all terms and abbreviations you are likely to see when using our fantasy hockey tools. We make our best effort to group the terms in a logical fashion and avoid repetition (note: many of the Skater stats translate naturally to the Team stats). If an abbreviation or term is missing from the list (or the definition provided is unclear), please reach out to us using our contact page.

General

GP: Games Played

X/60: This is the rate of stat "X" per 60 minutes played (e.g., G/60 is Goals per 60 minutes of ice time)

3YX: This is the three-year average of stat "X" (e.g., 3YSV% is the three-year average of a goalie's save percentage)

CX: This is the career average of stat "X" (e.g., CSH% is the career average of a skater's shooting percentage)

SAT%: Shot Attempts For Percentage, calculated as 100*SATF/(SATF+SATA)

SATC%: SAT% in close games (tied or within one goal)

USATF: Unblocked Shot Attempts For (includes SOG, MS)

USATA: Unblocked Shot Attempts Against

USAT%: Unblocked Shot Attempts For Percentage, calculated as 100*USATF/(USATF+USATA)

USATC%: USAT% in close games (tied or within one goal)

tEVSH%: Even-strength shooting percentage of team while specific player is on the ice

tEVSV%: Even-strength save percentage of team while specific player is on the ice

SHSV: A measure of luck that combines EVSH% and EVSV%, calculated as 10*EVSH% + 1000*EVSV%

PENΔ: Penalty differential, calculated as penalties drawn - penalties taken (per 60 minutes)

OZS%: Percentage of a player's non-neutrual-zone shifts that start in the offensive zone (sometimes abbreviated as ZS%)
